Through grief, queerness, culture, memory, and myth, each character reaches toward something more honest - sometimes painful, sometimes liberating. From stop-motion spirits to small-town returns, this collection invites us into the quiet, difficult, and beautiful work of becoming.

Feeling overwhelmed and isolated on the day of his wedding, Arman, a closeted gay immigrant, must lie to his family on the phone about his marriage in the United States. Moments before walking down the aisle, he’s uncertain how to move forward.

Two lifetimes from now the world hangs in the balance. Dove, a young, enigmatic, gender-shifting warrior, discovers the gifts and burdens of their Inkwo (medicine) to defend against an army of hungry, ferocious monsters. Dove’s courage, resilience and alliance with the Earth culminates in a battle against these flesh-consuming creatures, who become stronger with each body and soul they devour. Inkwo for This story is a call to action to fight and protect against the forces of greed around us.

A couple in their 50's return home for her mother's funeral. Her demeanor reflects the anxiety surrounding her return and it's assumed that this tension is due to her mother's death, but there is more than the impending funeral that she is afraid to face. When she reaches out to a childhood friend, she is confronted about the road she chose and what her decisions have cost her emotionally. Facing midlife, she's questioning her life, love and sexuality.

Two young Muslin-American women cross paths as they each consider the hijab and its significance to their identity and empowerment. To one it represents suffocation and a dampening of her spirit as she rebels against family pressure and the restrictions of her culture. To the other it offers a return to the comfort of her faith and safety from the scrutiny of men.

Accompanied by a snarky Inner Thoughts Goblin, she’s surprised to learn this isn’t a place for banishment, but for embracing what haunts us. As quirky group sessions unfold and healing exercises begin, the Shadow grows less threatening, the Goblin softens, and long-buried emotions rise. To move forward, she must confront not just her own pain, but the illusions others are hiding too.
