This witty and irreverent documentary introduces the Rice Rockettes, an Asian Drag family from San Francisco that has persisted for 15 years despite rapidly changing attitudes towards the art form. The matriarch of the family, Estee Longah, acts as narrator and covers topics such as found family, queer joy, what it takes to be a drag queen, and the future of drag families in America. The film traces their found family lineage from Tita Aida, a beloved Filipina Trans activist from the Bay Area. Interviews with other members of the family include Vermicelli Versace, Doncha, Kristi Yomichuchi, Buka Kay, and Peipei Mabilz. Their creative and collaborative dynamic is portrayed through behind the scenes footage of their 15 year anniversary show. Footage of their performance and interviews are cleverly stitched with audio from the house mother to deliver an inspiring message for future Asian baby queens. Much like Paris Is Burning, this film provides a vital account of a lesser-known corner of Queer subculture that includes Asian Americans from the West Coast.
