Set in an American coastal town, Alice Featherston is having a hard time asking her crush, Dave, to be her high school prom date. That changes, however, when she meets a traveling circus clown, Sam. The two strike up a unique rapport.


Alice discovers that Sam is mute and can only communicate through writing poetry. He also possesses the unique ability to create illustrations that come to life. With his help and guidance, Alice gains the courage to speak to Dave at school. Even when things don’t go quite according to plan, Sam helps navigate Alice through her disappointments.


A coming-of-age story about a young girl finding her confidence, made only possible by the friendship with a magical, mystical but kind-hearted stranger.

    Osaka, Japan; Director Biography - Rayner Wang Hong Kong-born Rayner Wang spent his early years in the UK. During his teens, he developed a keen interest in filmmaking, particularly in creative storytelling. After completing school, he attended the University of the Arts in London. He earned an Associate’s degree in film and a Bachelor’s degree in animation. Rayner began working briefly for Ridley Scott Associates as a runner, later accepting a chance to work at Imagi Animation Studios in Hong Kong. There, he was involved in conceptualizing and storyboarding web comics, editing the animated TV series ‘Zentrix’, and writing treatments for upcoming films and TV projects. Rayner has been working on his own film productions, and dividing his time internationally. He enjoys traveling and gathering ideas and concepts for new projects. To this day he remains enthusiastic watching films, new and old, to gain inspiration. Furthermore, Rayner seeks far-reaching influence from books, comics, cartoons, anime, stage productions, TV shows as well as video games. A long time admirer of the field, Rayner maintains respect for both traditional 2D hand-drawn animation and contemporary 3D computer animation. He hopes one day that audiences will come to appreciate them equally. Rayner Wang holds highest regards for various artists such as Stanley Kubrick, Ang Lee, Peter Jackson, Don Bluth, Richard Williams, Ray Harryhausen, Hayao Miyazaki and Steven Spielberg, crediting them as the driving force behind his passion for filmmaking.
