From the directors: We started making "Savi the Cat" in the summer of 2021, roughly one year and two months after the murder of George Floyd by the Minneapolis Police Department became a rallying cry for a world-wide movement to end police brutality. What drew us to this project was the JOY in the story. Here were two fully-realized characters, who, in spite of the world around them, were living out LOUD. Fundamentally, "Savi" is a celebration of the complexities of Black love, in which any couple, cat lover, immigrant, and viewer can see themselves.

Savi the Cat

Happy newlyweds Ken and Kaila adopt an adorable kitten, but neither is prepared for the destruction the feline wreaks on their couches, life and, ultimately, their relationship. An incredible Trojan horse story about marriage, communication and Kenyan-American cultural differences, the film is as much about a cat as a couple who learn that understanding each other and working well as a team is part of love.

From the director: Firstly, Temple of Love is the creation of Aaron T. Francis (Executive Producer) of Vintage Black Canada. His curation of his families visual history and his desire to bring that into the film world led to this story of his uncle Errol. Secondly, it is truly Errol's story, told by him and supported by his family and legends of the Canadian music industry. My role as director was to listen. I have no answers, only questions, and I hope it comes across as Errol's voice in the end. I watch it back and see a small story about a big thing. It's one man's life story shedding light on the history of Black music in Canada, the industry as a whole and the perils of the artists life.
