From the directors: We started making "Savi the Cat" in the summer of 2021, roughly one year and two months after the murder of George Floyd by the Minneapolis Police Department became a rallying cry for a world-wide movement to end police brutality. What drew us to this project was the JOY in the story. Here were two fully-realized characters, who, in spite of the world around them, were living out LOUD. Fundamentally, "Savi" is a celebration of the complexities of Black love, in which any couple, cat lover, immigrant, and viewer can see themselves.
