Pregnancy-phobic Kora (they/them) does everything to be a good friend, including in supporting their roommate, Diana (she/her), through her challenges in trying to become pregnant. When Kora receives a generous check and thank you note for an egg donation from a mysterious fertility clinic called Fertile Crescent, Diana helps Kora investigate – except Diana doesn’t return. Kora is forced to enter Fertile Crescent alone, and is ensnared by a motherhood-enforcing society that only sees Kora for their idealized healthy body. With Kora’s eggs harvested and no exit in sight, Kora is forced to confront their fears around femininity and fertility.

Shirin Mori (they/she) grew up in a multigenerational San Francisco household, where as they tried to sleep, they could overhear their grandmother praying to die. A typical day in their childhood included bringing homemade meals from their Iranian grandmother to their Japanese grandmother and translating messages of care between both grandmothers who spoke very little English. Shirin is a writer/director as well as a designer who works on protecting our privacy at a civil liberties nonprofit. In their free time, Shirin is negotiating for their union’s first contract.
