"Illusion of Distance" explores the lasting impact of the Apartheid era on individuals like Boeta Allie, an 80-year-old man labeled as "coloured" under the Apartheid regime. Separated from his childhood friend Isaac Mbenyane due to racial segregation, Boeta Allie shares a poignant story of friendship disrupted by forced removals that tore apart communities in District 6 and scattered families across the Cape Flats. Despite living in neighboring areas - Langa and Bonteheuwel separated only by a highway - pass laws and movement restrictions prevented Boeta Allie and Isaac from reuniting for over 70 years. Join Boeta Allie on a heartfelt journey, accompanied by filmmaker Sapho Wulana, as he seeks to reconnect with his long-lost friend Isaac.
