A celebration of the talent and legacy of animation.

A classically trained artist, Lorraine Mimura started her career at Hanna-Barbera in the early 1960s. She walked in looking for a job in the Ink & Paint department where a supervisor saw her skill and introduced her to Willie Ito. While she didn’t walk out with a job that day, Willie did eventually hire her and Lorraine became the first woman working in the Background department at the famed studio.

With over half a century of experience, Lorraine is now retired but she’s never stopped working.

In her first public interview, Lorraine takes us back to the early days of animation on television and shares memories of her years at Hanna-Barbera, from the early days of being the only woman in a department to the later years when computers were introduced at the studio.
