Filmmaker Alexa Tremblay-Francoeur first became interested in Bossé House while on her daily commute to work she encountered a group of protesters angry about plans to demolish the house.
Alexa fell into a deep vacuum of research, digging up everything she could on the history of the home, before realizing that all of this work could be the basis for her next project.
In this conversation, Alexa shares the story behind the project and how two years and 14,000 drawings later, The Little Ancestor came to be.

Alexa Tremblay-Francoeur is a visual artist and traditional 2D animator specialized in the creation of animated short films. In 2016, her first film, entitled Le passage, will receive the relève régionale prize at the 20th edition of the Regard short film festival.
She has been working professionally as a 2D animator since 2019 and, during the same year, participated in the Dessins animés project instigated by La Bande Sonimage which resulted in the short film Affannato which was selected in twenty regional, national and international festivals.

Marina has been writing and discussing film for over 15 years, first on a personal blog, followed by a decade-long tenure on the now retired Row Three. In 2008, she joined the writing staff at Quiet Earth, becoming Editor-In-Chief in 2014, a role she still holds. Over the years, she has also produced and hosted a number of podcasts including Before the Dawn, a long-running podcast on the Twilight franchise, Girls on Pop, a podcast on film and popular entertainment from women’s perspective and After the Credits, bi-monthly film podcast with nearly 300 episodes.
Marina is a member of ACM and ACM SIGGRAPH, the Online Film Critics Society, the Alliance of Women Film Journalists, and the Visual Effects Society. She is the President of Spark CG Society and the Vancouver ACM SIGGRAPH chapter. She has also served on juries for several film festivals including DOXA, St. Louis International Film Festival, and the Whistler Film Festival. She joined the Spark CG Society in 2014.
