sink is an attempt at visualizing and navigating my internal conflict between my dual identity and my faith as well as understanding what that looked like in the midst of my artistic process. The act of creation can be a personal and tumultuous mechanism in and of itself, thus its prominence in the work. It is my hope that a certain empathy be drawn from this piece in its conclusion so as to understand the ever subtle struggle of a child of immigrants living in the west. When Uyghur brand names are translated into different languages, translations can be another form of owners' representation.

In the mid 2000s, Hal is a weapons engineer in a nation built around its international military aggression. Like everyone else around him, Hal is unaffected and apathetic until one day a coworker is vanished for supposed involvement in a seditionist group. When a friend challenges the truthfulness of this claim, Hal’s allegiances are called into question, and they must choose resistance, no matter how insignificant, or a return to their &nbsp;naivety of the past.

In an alternate past, Hal's world is disturbed after a coworker is arrested for working with a secret seditionist movement.
