Three short films by Kim Hayung, Helen Lee, Yeon Park, followed by Julian Kim & Peter S. Lee's feature drama, Happy Cleaners, and a live filmmaker Q&A.
This film is based on the same title poem written by Korean American poet Myung Mi Kim who is known for her avant-garde poetry exploring the issues of dislocation, colonization, immigration. The film/poem consists of three parts. The first part juxtaposes the official procedure of being accepted as a U.S citizen and the home country's emotional experience and memory of where she came from. The second part problematizes the stereotypes and language barrier, which are often driven by binary categorizations. Finally, in the last part, as the title implies, the director and poet highlight an identity with harmonized multiplicity beyond race and geographical locations.
