California bill AB626 was passed in 2018, legalizing home restaurants. In 2019, Riverside, CA was the first and only county in the country to implement the law. Now, home restaurant pioneers are changing the face of food by bringing economic opportunity and healthy food options to their communities. Through their food are stories of strength, hope, resilience, and love.


Biography:


Eda Benjakul is an Emmy award-winning non-fiction director and producer specializing in lifestyle and culinary content. She is the co-creator of the upcoming QuiBi comedic travel series, “High & Low” w/ Erin and Sara Foster. Eda is a member of the Director’s Guild of America and part of the Women’s Steering Committee, where she directed a segment for the PBS San Bernardino Riverside station KVCR, “Hope Builders: Making a Difference.” Her career began as a researcher for ABC Network News, and she has always had a passion for social impact content.Judi Bushala “Avenue Edit”, a Chicago post-production house. With a background in art, she took the job on a whim and instantly fell in love with editing. An exciting new career for her began and she spent the next 5 years learning the nuances of film editing from the ground up. Next she moved to Warsaw, Poland with a company called Red Branch Productions. They produced shows for television networks in the U.K. and Poland, their biggest client being Atomic TV, Poland’s version of MTV. In 2002 Harpo Studios called and she began editing for “The Oprah Winfrey Show”. It would be the most transformative job of her career. For the next fourteen years, Harpo became a place Bushala called home and her coworkers became her Harpo family. During her time there, she mastered the art of storytelling in the edit suite and won an Emmy Award.
