New discoveries, faded memories, and forged partnerships form the connective tissue that comprise this new meeting of works produced by VC’s Armed With a Camera Fellowship for Emerging Artists and UCLA’s Center for Ethnocommunications. By far our most boundary pushing group of films to date, this is a not-to-be-missed annual event. As has been shown in recent years, we encourage one and all to get real acquainted with this year’s crop of filmmakers: some of them may very well return again soon with full-length feature films to the LA Asian Pacific Film Festival.
When a young girl is bullied in school about her unusual name and wants to change it, her father tells her about their indigenous roots as descendants of the Champa Kingdom and his harrowing escape from the Khmer Rouge.
