Under the Same Roof: Short Films About Family is a series of short films that chronicle Viet Film Fest (VFF) from its inception to its most recent iteration. These films capture the complexity of family through bonds that bend and break, created by and/or starring the Vietnamese diaspora. Whether the film was set in the U.S. or abroad, familial ties are questioned, explored, and disrupted through silent revelations and turbulent severances. Details of a live stream Q&A for this showcase are TBD and will be announced shortly. This is a free screening with pay what you want admission at checkout so please consider donating to VFF!

In 1963 a boy and his mother are left in Saigon while his father and brother flee to seek shelter from religious persecution in North Vietnam. The two brothers meet as strangers in a hapless confrontation during the war in 1973.
