This film block traces the systems and efforts that make life possible, often operating across vastly different scales. A tiny shorebird’s migration is sustained by biofilm hidden in the mud, artists and filmmakers bring wildlife and sustainability into public view, volunteers race to save endangered fish, and dedicated individuals work to protect mammals on land and at sea.

Together, the films invite viewers to look more closely at the networks that sustain ecosystems, and the people who choose to engage with them through science, creativity, and action.

Richard Tesore, a 63-year-old entrepreneur, turned his love for wildlife into action by founding “S.O.S Rescate de Fauna Marina”, Uruguay’s first center for marine mammal rescue and rehabilitation. With a deep commitment to coastal Uruguay’s marine life, he’s a local hero who keeps his community informed and aware of environmental issues through his strong social media presence.
