ABOUT THE FILM:
Based on true events, Superman Doesn't Steal is a coming-of-age story, set in Atlanta in the 70's during the Atlanta Child Murders and seen through the eyes of 8-year-old Harriet, who is as fascinated with superheroes as is her older brother Jackson. However, when they experience a troubling series of events that impact their family, leaving emotional scars and causing them both to grow up fast, they must redefine their definitions of heroes, villains, themselves – and yes – even Superman.
ABOUT THE FILMMAKER:
Tamika Lamison, a Virginia native, graduated from American University and Howard University. Honors include: ABC/Walt Disney Fellowship in Screenwriting, the CBS Director’s Initiative and AFI’s Directing Workshop for Women Fellowship. Tamika has produced/written/directed several award-winning shorts and features. She was a staff writer/producer on Monogamy. Tamika created the non-profit, Make A Film Foundation, which grants film wishes to children with serious or life-threatening medical conditions by teaming them with noted film industry who help them create short film legacies (www.makeafilmfoundation.org). Tamika is a Rideback Rise Fellowship circle member & Finalist in Shondaland’s Director Mentoring Program. Her current film has won multiple awards.
