This is the festival’s annual competition programme for animated student films from the Nordic and Baltic region. 13 student works have been selected to be screened in the programme and are in the competition for the Golden Gunnar for best Nordic Baltic student film. The films are also eligible to win the Grand Prix and the Audience Award.

The programme consists of 13 short films from Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Norway, Sweden and Germany. Films that have been accepted into Fredrikstad Animation Festival’s short film competition are eligible to be nominated for the European Animation Awards.

There once was a man feeling sad and in pain, so to get some attention, he hijacks a plane! But seizing an aircraft is quite the chore, so he guzzles a beer. And another. Then a few more. What happened next might seem unbelievable to you, but make no mistake; The story’s quite true.

Sondre Johre and Joachim Berg is a director duo from completely different backgrounds. Sondre is young, technically gifted and has a love for 3D animation. Joachim is an old soul, raised on 2D, with an art education in traditional drawing from Florence, Italy. They met while studying animation together at Volda University College from 2017 to 2020.
