The film takes place in the Viking Age around the 8th century and deals with the journey of four friends towards the flat earth's flaming gulf. Before their departure, they seek out the local seer, who predicts certain death if they sail to the ends of the earth. On their journey they must endure the perilous sea, dream visions of madness and death before finally reaching the unseen land.

Aske Steensen started his career in 2010 at the renowned animation studio, Wired Fly, in Aarhus, Jutland. He assisted the director, Johan Oettinger, on the award- winning stop-motion short film, Seven Minutes in the Warsaw Ghetto. During the day, he would assist the production and, in the night, he did his stop-motion horror short, Lukkede Døre. This was done to the industrial soundtrack of cows screaming, coming from the local slaughterhouse next door. As it can be seen in his later stop-motion films, the grotesque mood blend of the screams and the special odor, from diesel and cow maneuver, has continued to have an impact on the director’s work.
