The film takes place in the Viking Age around the 8th century and deals with the journey of four friends towards the flat earth's flaming gulf. Before their departure, they seek out the local seer, who predicts certain death if they sail to the ends of the earth. On their journey they must endure the perilous sea, dream visions of madness and death before finally reaching the unseen land. Aske Steensen started his career in 2010 at the renowned animation studio, Wired Fly, in Aarhus, Jutland. He assisted the director, Johan Oettinger, on the award- winning stop-motion short film, Seven Minutes in the Warsaw Ghetto. During the day, he would assist the production and, in the night, he did his stop-motion horror short, Lukkede Døre. This was done to the industrial soundtrack of cows screaming, coming from the local slaughterhouse next door. As it can be seen in his later stop-motion films, the grotesque mood blend of the screams and the special odor, from diesel and cow maneuver, has continued to have an impact on the director’s work.

On the outskirts of Tokyo lives the lonely Miho, an old widow. On her daily trip to the supermarket she meets a hungry stray cat. The cat follows her home, but soon makes himself more comfortable in her little apartment than she could ever imagine... BUDŌ is a anime inspired saga about loneliness, adventure and courage. Alexander comes from the technical aspect of filmmaking. Having studied “Screen & Media” at Sydney Film School, working full time as a DoP and editor at two different production companies and now working as a freelance director and editor. Together with Amanda they are running the production company AMSAGA based in Gothenburg, Sweden, with a focus on short films. “BUDŌ” is Alexander's fifth short film, and his first animation.Amanda has her background in theatre and textile design. After studying at Gothenburg Art School and at Gothenburg's Film Worker School, she started her career working with costume and makeup design for commercials and dramas. After a change in departments she is now focusing on balancing stop motion set design with commercial work and her own short film productions at AMSAGA.Amanda Aagard comes from a background in theater and set design and together with Alexander Tomas technical background in photography and editing the pair makes a powerful duo. Their films usually explore the subjects of loneliness and belonging through confident visual storytelling and a minimalistic approach to dialogue.

Coda is an abstract experimental animated film. Organic shapes are drifting, changing and making constantly new forms. Thor Sivertsen, born 1950, has since 1980 animated and directed 7 short films and contributed to several other shorts and features using traditional cel-animation and cartoon figures. He also was co-director on the computer animated feature Kurt gets evil in 2008. In 2015 he made his first abstract animated short Cineplasto using clay and the stratacut technique, followed by Pulsator in 2019 using different painting techniques. Coda is the last installment in the trilogy of abstract animation with original music by Motorpsycho.

Conundrum consists of four animated stories about people facing challenges. From the highway to the high school computer room, a rich cast of characters are shown in their unique bubbles. With light hearted animation and an unusual script, Conundrum walks the viewers into a recognizable universe they haven't yet seen. Jostein Braa Leland has been producing short films, music videos, games and 3D graphics under the banner Effekte ever since his first grant from Aktiv Ungdom in 2012. He is passionate about storytelling, and sees the importance of using every aspect of the film to enhance the narrative.

Conundrum

DATA FLESH is an algorithmic incantation that revives images, an essay that invokes internet archives, slaves of humanity and infinite scroll. Using generative techniques they create a future that only they can imagine. Felipe Elgueta is a filmmaker and professor of Documentary Film at Universidad de Chile. He specialized in Contemporary Media at LAV (Madrid). His films have been showcased in festivals such as Visions du Reel (Switzerland), Clermont-Ferrand (France), NEMAF (Korea), Docs MX (Mexico) and Exp22 (Barcelona). Currently, he’s involved in film projects that incorporate computational programming in Machine Learning, NeRF, VR and 3D.

In 14th century Norway, plagued by pestilence and disease, being Death isn't exactly a walk in the park. There's a fair bit of work to be done. How does he manage his new, rather eager intern, Konrad? Peter A. Clayborough, Magne Skagen and Audun A. E. Løkås are three directors/animators from norway. They completed their degree in animation at Volda University College in 2021, and have been working together in the industry since then. They founded The Branch, a production company focusing on hand-drawn 2D animation. The company primarily works on short films and music videos.

Final Show is a story of futile resistance. In a distorted reality defenseless creatures are imprisoned and forced to humiliate and hurt each other by their captor. Everything is recorded and streamed to thousands of paying customers. One day they have had enough. Freddy Wallin is an animator, artist and teacher born in Eskilstuna, Sweden. Since 20 years he's now living in Gothenburg where he teaches animation at the university and runs his own animation-studio. This short film is his professional debut even though he has been animating most of his life.

His neighbours get a sense of his hidden desires and help him to realise his dreams by hosting a talent show in the local hall. John O’Connell John first studied painting at the National College of Art & Design, then sculpture at the Royal College of Art in London, and most recently animation in Ballyfermot College of Further education. While at the RCA he started making experimental films with 8mm and 16 mm film. This passion for the moving image grew and he decided to return to college to develop his skills and interest in animation. Joe Coveney Joe a studied painting in National College of Art & Design, followed by sculpture at Winchester School of Art. In 2015 he was awarded a scholar-ship to Domus Academy in Milan, where he achieved an MA in Product De-sign. Joe worked mostly with paper and cardboard, creating drawings and installations. This fascination with building worlds is carried through with the work of Studio 9.

A rabbit wants to escape from an evil bunny factory. Swinnen and Van Rompaey studied animation at LUCA School of Arts in Brussels, earning their master’s degree in 2002. They later obtained an additional diploma in Advanced Studies inCharacter Animation from Animation Mentor.In 2006, they founded the animation studio Plan78, which was renamed Rabbit Hole in 2018. They shared the vision that an animation studio should focus on believable character animation,ensuring that whether it’s a simple cube or a mythical dragon, the characters come aliveand don't "just move."In 2007 and 2008, they were part of the animation team at Larian Studios, working onthe critically acclaimed RPG Divinity 2. Since then, Bram and Reinout have focused onbuilding their studio's portfolio, producing commercial work for brands like Aldi and DHLwhile always keeping a personal project on the side. Their short film "Lunch Break" wonmultiple international awards, and their new project "Rabbit Hole, A Life Wasted" isgaining attention on the festival circuit.

Summit

Shot entirely from the artist's apartment on the 36th floor of a high-rise building, the images in this experimental stereoscopic animation survey large parts of Hong Kong’s cityscape. Using an extreme distance of up to two meters between two synchronised cameras capturing the stereoscopic scenes, the recipient’s interocular distance is widened, making the viewer a giant and the city a miniature of cardboard cut-outs and dollhouses. Max Hattler is an experimental animator and audiovisual artist interested in the space between abstraction and representation, where storytelling is freed from the constraints of traditional narrative. His work contemplates microcosms, moments, and atmospheres: close-ups as reflections on the big picture, and aesthetics as reflections on politics. While his films are devoid of dialogue, they explore the relationships between sound, music and the moving image. After studying at Goldsmiths and the Royal College of Art in London—and for one semester at Escuela de Cine de Madrid—he completed a doctorate in fine art at the University of East London. Max Hattler is a tenured Associate Professor at the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong. His work has been shown worldwide and has received prizes from Annecy Animation Festival, Prix Ars Electronica, Montreal Festival du Nouveau Cinema, Punto y Raya Festival, Cannes Lions and London International Animation Festival, among many others.

A couple of little mushroom fairies put on a magic show for Tiny Toot and her friends. They use their magic wands to shoot mycelium at the fallen fruit, turning it into fertile dirt to help new life grow. Tiny Toot also gets to try the magic wand and learns some mushroom magic. Maria Mac Dalland was trained at Dansk Tegnefilm Kompagni in the early 80s. She lived in the mid-80s in Nicaragua, where she established an animation department at the Nicaraguan Film Institute. As a director, she has made a long list of short films, both documentary, fiction and animation.
