This program offers a thought-provoking exploration into the role of animation as a powerful medium for driving social change. Through a series of in-depth discussions, we delve into how animated works can spark conversations, challenge societal norms, and inspire movements.

In this engaging conversation with Paulo Garcia, the director of 47 and founder of Zombie Animation Studio, Paulo and his team of “dreamers, artists and technologists” have crafted an outstanding piece of storytelling that represents a mostly invisible population in mainstream society - the Intellectually Developmentally Delayed (IDD) community.

Tasked by his client Cafe Joyeux to bring to screen a story that was inspired by the personal journey of a boy with Down Syndrome, Paulo and his team, which included members of the Down Syndrome community, created a film that is full of heart but perhaps more important, it also makes a strong statement about injustice in an often misunderstood population. 47 is an impactful film that powerfully advocates for a more just world.
