"Eidolon" is about how a young woman mourning the loss of her father voluntarily guides herself into illusion. Working at a laundromat, the young woman watches time pass by in a sort of chemical haze – the deeper time sinks her into her condition, the more she ignores people and sees them as clothes. In her illusion, she recreates her dead dad out of warped memories, old clothes and death masks. Eidolon, meaning ghost, double, or apparition, is an ode to old cinema – Eidolon draws conceptual influence from the reoccurring themes in the work of Alfred Hitchcock, Robert Bresson, and Mizoguchi Kenji, while drawing formal influence from the photo roman format often associated with Chris Marker’s "La Jetée" (1962).
