Young creatives are the filmmakers, screenwriters, composers, choreographers of tomorrow. Their vision of the world comes from 21st Century eyes, minds and hearts. Let's celebrate the last day of KIDS FIRST!'s 30th Anniversary by celebrating our young filmmakers.
A twisted fairy tale with a hint of Edgar Allan Poe and a dash of Edward Gorey featuring the vocal talents of Claire Foy as the narrator. Made during the lockdown of 2020. From the corners of a small room, comes the story of Derek and his Brick. Derek is Isolated and torn between the love of his pigeon and a beautiful damsel. What is a hermit bachelor to do?
Juror comments: Clever and twisted tale drawing on both Edgar Allan Poe and Edward Gorey.
Well executed imagery, excellent narration and I love the acting. The make up adds a lot of fun to this also. This would be perfect for a festival for older teens and perhaps some tweens. You really need to watch it to appreciate it. It's a collage sort of montage, with delightful visuals.
I give this 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 12 to 18, plus adults. Reviewed by Julie S., KIDS FIRST! Adult Juror.
