Director Biography - Michael M Pearce

Michael Pearce is an Assistant Professor in the Mass Communication Department at North Carolina Central University. Before joining NCCU he taught at Shaw University in Raleigh, NC and Living Arts College in Wake Forest, NC. Michael grew up in the triangle area and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with degrees in both English Literature and Film Studies. After a year long adventure in New Zealand chasing hobbits he went on to graduate school at Savannah College of Art and Design, where he earned his MFA in Film and Television Production. In addition to teaching since 2010 Michael has also served as a co-producer and editor on HOLANC!. HOLANC! is a local weekly televised program that highlights the positive contributions of the Latino and Hispanic population in the Raleigh-Durham area. He is also an award winning documentary director, and is currently in postproduction on his first feature film, entitled "The Healer". His 2023 documentary film, "RHD: HIDDEN DIAGNOSIS", was recently picked up by PBS for a broadcast run.
