I’m Lightning N. Mitchell, founder of the Women’s Basketball Association (WBA). I graduated from Jackson High School in Jonesboro Louisiana and was looking forward to playing football at Grambling State University, but I was drafted to go to Vietnam to fight for my country. Life sometimes take us down many roads and we often lose focus and direction. But if we don’t lose faith or hope, we will always get back on the right path. Jesus gave me a vision to create a women’s professional basketball league. But I had other plans, to play professional football in the NFL. When my plans failed, I gave in and followed Jesus plan for my life. And it would become my greatest achievement.
