- NoteDirector Biography - Andrea Schmitz is a motion designer and short-form animation director from Little Rock, Arkansas, currently working in NYC. Caught between the worlds of visual art and written storytelling, Andrea created the annual animation anthology Things Took a Turn, which encourages animators of marginalized genders to create new animated shorts by twisting familiar tropes and narratives. Andrea revels in the spooky and the dramatic. Andrea Sparacio is an illustrator and short-form animation director based in NYC. Andrea cut her teeth on animation creating shorts for the Things Took a Turn anthology several years in a row. The Andreas are both horror fans, and when Sparacio decided to make a short film based on T.H. Bayly’s poem “The Mistletoe Bough,” Schmitz wanted in. This is their first collaboration, and they are frankly psyched.
