About Nancy Svendsen

A passionate storyteller since her childhood in rural Iowa, Nancy Svendsen recently turned from the healthcare field to filmmaking. Her first feature documentary, PASANG: In the Shadow of Everest tells the story of Pasang Lhamu Sherpa – the first Nepali woman to summit Mt. Everest. Related to Pasang by marriage, Nancy brings nuance and depth to a moving and inspiring story.


About Ang Dorjee Sherpa

Dorjee Sherpa is Pasang’s oldest brother and worked with his father leading international trekking groups on mountain climbing expeditions in Nepal, Afghanistan and the Himalayas. Dorjee has climbed four mountains in South America and was a staff member of the Man Who Skied Down Everest expedition in 1970, a documentary film which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 1975.


About Dawa Futi Sherpa

Dawa Futi Sherpa is the eldest child of Pasang Lhamu Sherpa. She is also the President of the Pasang Lhamu Foundation, a charitable foundation founded in Kathmandu in 1993 in honor of her late mother. From November 2019 to October 2021, Dawa served as the Ambassador of the Republic of Nepal to the Kingdom of Spain. Over the course of her career, Ambassador Sherpa has held various positions in both non-profit and private sectors in Nepal and in the United States. She received her MA in International Education from New York University, in NY, USA, and has a sound knowledge of development, importance of cultural exchange and public diplomacy.


About Norbu Tenzing

Norbu Tenzing is Vice President of the American Himalayan Foundation which is based in San Francisco, California. He is the son of Tenzing Norgay Sherpa who, along with Sir Edmund Hillary, was the first to climb Mt. Everest in 1953. He brings the needs of our partners in the Himalaya into focus for friends of AHF and is also an advocate for reducing risk on Everest. 


About Preeti Ardhikary

Preeti Adhikary is the the Founder of The Great Nepali Diaspora, a non-profit community of exceptional global Nepali talent that aims to nurture connection, collaboration, and camaraderie. She is also building a venture capital fund to support underrepresented founders. Preeti holds a Master of Advanced Management from the Yale School of Management. With over 17 years of diverse experience in tech startups, banking, and nonprofits, Preeti is passionate about creating and supporting community-driven ventures that have a positive social and economic impact.
