"Rubby Valentin is a singer and songwriter born in the Dominican Republic and raised in Washington Heights, NYC. His music is a boundary-breaking fusion of Dembow, left-field electronic, alt-pop, and techno—a direct reflection of his multicultural roots and deep ties to New York’s underground queer club scene.
With seductive vocals and evocative storytelling, Rubby explores the visceral, uncurated realities of the queer experience, moving seamlessly from raw intimacy to bold self-invention. He first caught the industry's attention with ""Confiesa,"" a sultry anthem that showcased his fearless approach to sound and identity, and later won critical acclaim for his 2024 visual project Senseless Sexy Rage.
Now, fresh off having his music spun on Honey Dijon’s radio show, Rubby is rolling out his highly anticipated debut studio album, EXHIBIT A. Executive produced alongside Sam Pottash, the project features heavy club production from BAPARI, Diego Raposo, Sevyn 0000, and Zorenlo. Led by the haunting, club-centric single ""SILO""—a track that blurs the thin line between ecstasy and agony. Rubby balances underground club grit with international, high-art elegance, cementing his position as one of alternative pop's most provocative new voices."
"Silo" is a feverish, hypnotizing electro-pop music video that explores the raw boundaries where ecstasy and agony blur together. Directed by David Mesa and shot on 35mm film, the visual narrative serves as an intimate and surreal exploration of desire, physical power dynamics, and vulnerability. The story centers on a cast of models navigating a psychological space of confinement and intimacy. The video relies heavily on striking choreography, stylized lighting, and high-fashion aesthetics to build an atmosphere that feels both captivating and claustrophobic. Repetitive imagery and lyricism such as "which way do you really want to go" (0:06) and "i want you on four" (0:21) drive a cyclical story of attraction, highlighting the push and pull between feeling emotionally isolated and completely consumed by another person (0:21). Ultimately, the video transforms the idea of a "silo" into a metaphor for a physical and emotional container where bodies collide, power shifts, and boundaries are tested.
