Nicolas Iordanou and Sylvia Nicolaides are a film-making duo from Cyprus.
Nicolas Iordanou, photographer and filmmaker, was born in Paphos, Cyprus. He studied Photography at Columbia College Chicago. He worked as a conflict photographer for several years before focusing on documentary photography. His work is concerned with the human condition, focusing issues such as displacement and homelessness.
Sylvia Nicolaides is a filmmaker and video artist. She is a Berlinale Talents alumna (Berlin Film Festival 2019) and a member of the Directors Guild of Cyprus. She received her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts Degree from Chelsea College of Art and Design (University of the Arts) in London and her Master’s at the Film and Television Academy (FAMU) in Prague, Czech Republic.
Creative partners and partners in life, the two of them became a '2-person crew', stripping filmmaking down to its essence - picture and sound. With Nicolas operating picture, Sylvia operating sound, the duo direct, edit and produce their own projects. These true guerrilla filmmakers have screened their work and won awards in several film festivals across the world, including the PÖFF Short Film Festival in Tallinn Estonia, Innsbruck Nature FILM Festival in Austria, Independent Days International Filmfestival (IDIF) in Germany, Sound Unseen Music Film Festival, and others.
