The world outside of our hometowns is vast and diverse. Many young people come to see these unique stories only when they go away to a university. Fewer still are able to study abroad and experience the wonders of another country’s culture. This program, therefore, aims to showcase all of the wonders of international film (any films outside of the United States) from the young people across the globe willing to share their art.
About the film:
This is an unusual story about "How I Loved My Mother". Luo Nan, a seventh-grade girl, goes to the variety store every day to take one piece of newspaper with a blue note stuck on, which is the way her sick mom and the shopkeeper communicate while having an affair.
With her mom’s life counting down, Nan is no longer able to ignore the fact that her parents do not love each other anymore. She uses her special way to encourage her mom to leave the family, because she does not care about secular morality and just wants her mom to be happy in the remaining days.
Meanwhile, Nan’s shrewd teacher recommends she participate in the school speech contest with the theme of "I love my mother”, taking advantage of her misery. However, instead of giving a hypocritical speech and bringing honor to her class, Nan decides to tell the world how brave and special her love for her mother is.
