Film shorts that were screened in our in-person event on October 2, 2021. All of these shorts are from local filmmakers.

奶奶 (Nai Nai) is the story of a Chinese grandmother, YuQian, who suffers an emotional trauma during her childhood and develops a severe hatred towards the Japanese. One day, her granddaughter, Mei, introduces her Japanese fiance, Ken, to Yuqian. As Ken is Japanese, Yuqian's memories of her past trauma resurfaces and forces her to face her past. 奶奶 (Nai Nai) was nominated as a finalist for the Tokyo International Short Film Festival and was shown at the DC Asian Pacific American Film Festival.


Co-Director Biography - Hsiu Hsiu Lin

Hsiu Hsiu Lin is one of the co-directors of  奶奶. She is also a storyteller and animator. In the future, she hopes to create diverse and motivational stories that will inspire kids.


Co-Director Biography - Minori Uemura

Minori Uemura is one of the co-directors of 奶奶. Besides animating and storyboarding, Minori enjoys learning about different cultures and languages. She hopes to tell stories that bring cultures together and heal the pain of the past.


3D Animation Lead Biography - Tina Wu

As the lead Tina made sure that the 3D animators turned in their shots on time and helped with the flow of the production timeline. In her spare time, she enjoys making stickers and charms on her etsy shop and playing games. She hopes to make her way into the animation and gaming industry in the future.
