About the filmmaker

Zain Duraie graduated from the Toronto Film School in 2010. She trained with acclaimed filmmaker Annemarire Jacir, working on Jacir’s film When I Saw You (2012). Jacir's production company Philistine Films produced Duraie's debut film Horizon (2013), which premiered at Palm Springs Shorts Film Festival where it was chosen “Best of the Fest Selects.” Duraie began developing her feature film screenplay with the prestigious Asia Pacific Screen Academy, Meditalents Residence, and Torino Film Lab. Her latest film Give Up the Ghost was nominated for the Robert Bosch FIlm Prize in 2019.
