Religion, sex, money, drugs, abandonment: these are all things you can expect as you meet the different generations of the dysfunctional Zweifler family across this six-episode saga. Things get complicated for Symcha, when he learns that his grandson and his non-Jewish girlfriend are expecting a son. This incredibly well-acted show dives head first into questions like "will the child be raised Jewish?" and "what will happen to Symcha’s deli?" and it does so in spectacular fashion. Modern day Germany makes a perfect setting for this story of religion, cultural identity and intergenerational conflict, and The Zweiflers wraps it all up with just the right amount of heart and humour.

The Zweiflers, especially Mimi, are preparing the circumcision ceremony over Saba's head, and even Mimi's sister Tammi and her daughter Debbie are coming from New York to attend. In the hustle and bustle, however, they don't notice how Saba is giving up on things. When she disappears with the baby, Samuel is helpless. Meanwhile, Symcha is coming under increasing pressure. In his clever ruse to put the blackmailer out of action, he has inadvertently put the police on the trail of his secret.
