ABOUT THE FILM: Filmmaker Nemo Allen travels to war-torn Cauca, Colombia, to witness the struggle of the Indigenous Nasa—and finish his recently deceased mother’s incomplete documentary. We meet the Guardia Indígena, armed only with the titular batons, who defend their community amidst the world’s longest running civil war. We follow Nemo as he reconciles his grief and, in the face of complex danger, realizes why his mother risked her life all those years ago. ABOUT THE FILMMAKER: Nemo Allen is a Colombian-American filmmaker from New York City. An editor and cinematographer by trade, Nemo holds an MFA in film from The City College of New York and a BA from Wesleyan University, where he studied literature and dance.

ABOUT THE FILM: When Leah, a Korean adoptee raised in America, returns to Korea to find her birth mother, she confronts secrecy on the part of the adoption agency and her family, but remains committed to discovering the truth of her origins. ABOUT THE FLIMMAKER: Christina Yoon is an award-winning writer/director from New York and Atlanta. She likes to make dramas and genre films exploring trauma, alienation, and identity. As a TV writer, she has most recently written for Apple TV+’s Pachinko.Her films have been selected at festivals including Palm Springs International ShortFest, Hamptons International Film Festival, Hollyshorts Film Festival, and more. Her work has been written about in The Korea Times and discussed by NPR. Her short, Motherland, won Best Narrative Short at the Oscar-qualifying Provincetown International Film Festival.Christina is a graduate of Columbia University in Screenwriting/Directing. She is based in LA.

ABOUT THE FLIM: A high school swimmer struggles with her tampon before practice. ABOUT THE FILMMAKER: Christa Haley is an MFA candidate at the NYU Graduate Film Program. She began her career in the film industry as an assistant to director Derek Cianfrance on the independent feature The Place Beyond the Pines (‘12). She's worked in the editorial department on major feature films and television shows including Mary Poppins Returns (‘18), Harriet (’19), The Woman in the Window ('21), and HBO’s Limited Series Scenes from a Marriage (’21). Christa has directed videos for Vogue Germany featuring Kendall Jenner and world-renowned fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier. She has edited for brands including Coach, Banana Republic, and Interview Magazine.

ABOUT THE FILM: Leo, a shy eighth grader on the verge of understanding their trans identity, pursues a crush on a bunkmate, but is plagued by a frog. Meanwhile, Leo’s eager, gay teacher-in-training Brad tries to connect with his students, but oversteps his boundaries. Only in nature, among marshes and maritime forests, can Leo and Brad find an unspoken connection. ABOUT THE FILMMAKER: Ryan Craver is a filmmaker who draws from the deep well of his Southern upbringing and the irreverent, experimental legacy of queer cinema to inspire new notions of the American family. His feature projects and short films have received support from the Tribeca Film Institute, SFFILM, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, and the David Ross Fetzer Foundation for Emerging Artists. Ryan is currently developing his first short TRUCK SLUT ('Best Emerging Filmmaker' special mention at the 2019 Palm Springs ShortFest) as a TV series.
