ABOUT THE FILM:

Fan follows the journey of Ben, a Taiwanese entrepreneur, spanning from the 1950s to the present day. It unfolds the narrative of how Ben, armed with resilience and diligence, navigates through life. Despite facing setbacks caused by a typhoon and the painful loss of their son, Ben and his wife remained undeterred. Together, they transformed their modest ironworks into a multinational enterprise, symbolizing the collective contributions of numerous Taiwanese entrepreneurs to Taiwan's economic boom from the 1960s to the 1980s. Immersed in a watercolor art style, Fan pays homage to the modern artists of 20th-century Taiwan.

ABOUT THE FILMMAKER:

Erik Lee was the Animation Supervisor for the 2019 Academy Award-nominated Best Animated Short One Small Step, Production Supervisor for the 2020 San Francisco International Film festival selected Pangu, Production Supervisor for 2020 The One Show, “Fu” Animation Supervisor for 2021 Wish Dragon, and Senior Animator for 2017 Tea Pet and 2016 How to Train Your Dragon TV series seasons 3 & 4. Lee has his MFA from Academy of Art University, San Francisco; USA BFA; National Taiwan University of Art, Fine Art.
