An incredible compilation of six Iranian documentaries and narratives. Both thought-provoking and brave, several of the topics covered are taboo in their country, but these directors and filmmakers take a chance to explore and expose, inform and celebrate. We had several incredible Iranian films submitted this year - it was hard to select just a few for our Spotlight.

Delve into this fascinating collection of short films and then order your ticket for HIT THE ROAD, from director Panah Panahi, and the shorts program Short Narratives 1: PEOPLE & THE ARTS featuring THE PYLON, another short film from Iran, directed by Babak Mostafav.:

Part of our Short Docs & Narratives: SPOTLIGHT ON IRAN

Director: Mohammadreza Beheshti

Director's Statement:

TIME TO LOSE is a short film co-written by Mohammad Reza Behesti and Maryam Mousavian, and directed by Mohammad Reza Beheshti. The film was co-produced by Mohammed Reza Beheshti and Mehdi Shahidi, and with the presence of actors Mohammad Rostam Azad and Maryam Mousavian in the main roles, and Arto Zahrabian, Avin Naghviyan, Armineh Zaytounchian, Hassan Asgari, etc.

This film tells the story of an Armenian family who have lived in Iran since the 1980s, at the same time as the Iran-Iraq War, and the problems of that time. The first part of this story involves the father who, despite living in the present, but after years living with Alzheimer's, is still involved in the consequences of the war and the psychological damage of that time. He travels to the past by reviewing memories within his mental world.

The story of this film is like a videotape that shows the world inside the father's mind and takes him to the past and to the future.
