A circle, a palindrome, and a giant cake walk into a cinema—these conceptual explorations bounce between linear narratives and abstract observations. At times delightfully oddball, at others self-reflexive, these video poems skew perspective by infusing formal structures with experimental play—collectively addressing the dualities of this bizarre and beautiful life.
HairBrush is a meditative reflection upon an everyday activity—a haircut—and the artist's journey toward becoming a mother after adopting her son during lockdown last year. It documents the laboured process of making a paintbrush out of a golden curl from her son's head, which was used to paint each frame of the film. Watercolour, instead of blood or DNA, becomes the metaphor and material for describing how we imagine and manifest our selves through each other.
