This past October we lost a formidable voice in Cuban and documentary cinema- Diana Montero (1986-2020). Passing away at the age of 34, she left behind an award-winning filmography that focuses on daily life in the Cuban countryside, a vibrant window into the stories of the people who live there.

In memory of the master storyteller, HFFNY is streaming all of Montero's documentary shorts.

A 26-year-old documentary filmmaker, after learning that her mother is ill with cancer, decides to return to Guira de Melena, a significant place of her childhood. She reconnects with her memories and tries to mend fragile family ties while getting romantically involved with Miguel Ángel, a local young man.
