Director's Statement
Covering wars should not just be about firefights, we should tell more about everyday life of ordinary people, the one who risk to die every day only to go to school or to work. That's the real essence of modern conflicts and the most hard to explain to your audience.
Director's Bio
Nico Piro is the most awarded Italian war correspondent, he is a staff member at Rai, the public Italian Radio Television. He is mostly focused on wars, epidemics and natural disaster. He self-produced his projects too, like "Killa Dizez" a documentary about Ebola epidemics in Sierra Leone (2015). He crowdfunded two of his recents books, both of them about Afghanistan.
He is the Italian pioneer of MOJO (Mobile Journalism) he runs classes to spread the use of smartphone for journalism and storytelling. He is the director of Mojo Italia, the first Italian mobile festival (Rome 2018, first edition) www.mojoitalia.it
