Jon is tired of hearing about home workers through lockdown claiming to keep to their old routine, as if they were going to work. Some of Jon's best work was done in his pyjamas...
Shot on Apple iPhone XR and 12ProMax, Filmic Pro and Luma Fusion. This film is a Finalist for the SF3 and Luma Touch Finished on Mobile Award.
Director's Statement
I have been making films using mobiles for 10 years. And since 2012 I’ve been teaching people, of all ages, “mobile creativity” (filmmaking, photography, animation, etc) under the banner of #MadeOnAMobile.
”Working At Home" is a response to the profusion of social media posts, early in lockdown, by people showing up at home as if they they were still in the office – bright-eyed, showered, suited and booted. Some even had a packed lunch.
Even before lockdown, working at home meant “Jon’s in his jammies” – and so I wanted to communicate that... purely for fun, and completely without judgement. Did I succeed?
If you wrote one of those posts I promise I bare you no ill will. I'm making fun of my laziness as much as the stick up your bottom!
It’s amazing for “Working at Home” to be in competition at the SmartFone Flick Fest in Sydney and I can’t wait for the gala in February ’22. This is the first of my shorts where I'm actually in the film, so I'm curious to see what audiences make of me and my plodding around Dundee in wet slippers.
It just wouldn't have been the same had it been shot it in Sydney!
