Willy Nicholls is one of the few surfboard airbrush artists left in Australia. With his dog Ruby constantly at his side, Gold Coast artist Willy continues a craft that started in the 1970s when psychedelia and surf culture merged for a unique - and now dying - art form.

Director's Bio
Rob Layton teaches smartphone photography and mobile journalism at Bond University on the Gold Coast, Australia, where he is also undertaking a PhD in mobile journalism. He trains journalists and industry professionals in Australia, Europe, the UK and Asia in how to use their phones professionally. He specialises in using his iPhone in the ocean, which is central to his PhD documentary project on Gold Coast surf culture. Rob has won more than a dozen international awards for smartphone filmmaking and photography. He has worked with Apple, Google, the BBC, The Australian, and Al Jazeera, among others.
