"Amparo" is a film about rupture—about someone who defies the system and takes back her own life. The narrative portrays the everyday oppression of late capitalism, exploring the emotional and physical exhaustion of Alana, who finds in Carol, her girlfriend, both refuge and the courage to change.

Marina Lessa Trindade is a Brazillian artist, director, actress, ilustrator and also producer. Studied cinema at ABC cinema course , having classes with Hsu-Chien, Amparo is their first film made as conclusion of the studies on ABC. They're transgender, non-binary person, trans-dyke-queer (sapatransviado). Made more than 10 short films last year as actor, protagonist at the movie "quando o sangue flui", which they won best acting performance at the Tietê International Film Festival.

I want to explore Alana’s emotional and physical oppression, her relationship with Carol as a moment of relief, and her journey toward liberation. The editing will feature frenetic sequences contrasted with meaningful silences, drawing inspiration from Pi (Darren Aronofsky). Visually, the film is influenced by Stereo (David Cronenberg) and Eraserhead (David Lynch), using black-and-white cinematography to create a bleak, repetitive, and worn-out world—reflecting the exhaustion of routine.
