Preparations for the school’s annual day function evoke latent aspirations amongst its students. Amey lives for the chance to recite his heartfelt poem in front of the class, only to find out that he has not made the cut. An ambitious Sneha has her eyes on the part of one of her friends at her class’s contemporary dance performance. And sick of getting bullied for being obese, Rishi refuses to embody the only role that always befalls upon him, that of elephant-faced Ganesha. Armed with the fervor and audacity of youth, these feisty teenagers will do whatever it takes to express their true selves and realize their dreams.

Pratik Thakare’s discerning lens reveals a fascinating and moving portrait of adolescence in all its pain and glory. An exceptional young cast effortlessly embodies the delicate mix of fragility and confidence, made even more potent by the intoxicating yet agonizing ambition to be seen and validated. Sprinkled with humor in unexpected places, this impressive thesis film from the Satyajit Ray Film Institute introduces us to an astute and soulful emerging storyteller.
