Join us for these four lectures and a panel about Compositing with our industry professionals:

1) Steps to Success

2) The Math of Comp

3) 3D Comp Integration: Best Practice

4) Selective Stylization: The Art of Imperfection

5) Knowing Your Role

This video starts with a short introduction to the Meet The Masters Compositing panel from Chris Van Dyck.

In this presentation, Conrad Olson talks about the order in which you should put your shots together, to help you work efficiently, and in a way that will hopefully make life easier for you and everyone else on your project.

Chris van Dyck

Head of Studio // Crafty Apes

(Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Stranger Things: Season 3, The Hobbit Trilogy, 300)

Starting as a visual effects artist in 2003, Chris pursued project-based work, specializing in Compositing at an international level. Holding several roles, from Sr. Artist to Supervisor, Chris worked in New Zealand for Weta Digital on The Hobbit Trilogy; US: Industrial Light & Magic (Transformers & Warcraft); Australia: Animal Logic (300), Rising Sun Pictures (Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince); and in Vancouver studios Canada: MPC (Life of Pi), Method (Thor: The Dark World), The Embassy (Ironman), Prime Focus (Tron).

In an overtime-ridden industry, Chris took the road less traveled and founded CVD VFX on an ethic of ‘quality of work and quality of life’ with a strong commitment to giving back to the industry and his staff’s personal growth. In 2020, Chris sold CVD VFX to Crafty Apes and he is currently excited about growing the Vancouver office as Head of Studio.
