An elderly artist sits down to paint a majestic dragon. As he brings the creature to life on his canvas, he is overcome with nostalgia, reflecting on the hardships and sacrifices he endured in pursuit of his artistic passion. He skillfully wields his arsenal of tools – ink, paint, brushes, canvas, and paper – and acknowledges their invaluable role in translating his vivid thoughts into tangible works of art. However, he recognizes that the most essential element in his creative process is a boundless imagination.

OLD DRAGON MAN showcases beautiful puppet work, pairing it with a gentle orchestral score. Poetic narration is seamlessly woven into the film, to make the heart-warming feeling grow bigger than the sum of its parts.

Director Douglas Cook will be in attendance at the September 25 screening.

OLD DRAGON MAN will be screened as a part of the SHORTS: ALBERTA SPIRIT package.
