Director Biography - Anton Califano
I am an independent filmmaker and videographer based in south east London. I am attracted to stories about migration, cultural identity, justice, sustainability and social equality. I also like to make films with dance artists, fashion designers, musicians & other creatives. I have over two decades of experience in independent filmmaking, and as a cameraman and editor I have broadcast television credits with BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Sky Arts.
Director Statement
My first attempt at a film made on a mobile device, I made this film during lockdown after being introduced to Tanasha by a local charity that works with women coming from abusive relationships - I wanted to tell Tanasha's story, as not only is what has happened to her incredibly sad, but also incredibly inspiring to hear how she is using her experience of abuse as a motivation to improve her life and to help and inspire others to do the same.
