Gianmario Catania

Gianmario is Bardel’s Studio CG Supervisor in Vancouver. With over 20 years experience, he started off doing 2D and 3D animation in the advertising industry in Rome. There, he discovered his passion for 3D animation and motion graphics. Through his artistic excellence and hard work, he was promoted to CG Supervisor on the feature film Gladiators of Rome and Winx 1 and 2 (Rainbow S.p.A.). Gianmario then went on to work in the lighting department on prestigious feature films such as The Darkest Mind, The Dark Tower, the Justice League and Detective Pikachu before coming to Bardel. 


At Bardel, Gianmario makes sure all phases of production run as smoothly as possible, while coordinating with the TD department to provide new and efficient tools. He is constantly raising the bar for quality ensuring artists are empowered to work in a streamlined way. Gianmario holds a degree in design at the European Institute of Design in Rome and certificate of Visual FX from Gnomon School of Visual FX in Los Angeles.

Ryan North

Principal Compositing Artist // Mainframe Studios

Ryan North is the Principal Compositing Artist at Mainframe Studios. In addition to development work, he helps shape how artists interact with Nuke at Mainframe while supporting the numerous productions with education on best practices and a few gizmos on occasion.

Sonny Sy

Lighting Supervisor // DNEG

(Uncharted, Dune, Hobbs and Shaw, Godzilla King of Monsters)


Sonny Sy is a CG Lighting Supervisor at DNEG Vancouver. He's suped on Uncharted, Dune, Hobbs and Shaw, and Godzilla King of Monsters. He's also worked as lighting lead on shows like Wonder Woman, Alice Through the Looking Glass, Star Trek Beyond, Deadpool 2 and Pacific Rim 2. One of the first crew at the start of DNEG's Vancouver office. He started his DNEG career at the Singapore office over 10 years ago.


Before that, he was lighting and compositing lead at Lucasfilm Animation Singapore working on the Clone Wars Seasons 1 thru 3.


He started his professional career in Architecture, specializing in cad 3D visualization before making the leap to computer graphics animation. He has a Masters in Computer Animation from Bournemouth University, UK and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture from the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines.
