DNEG Compositing Supervisor Jelena Stojanovic leads us through the highs and lows of meeting the varied demands of episodic projects.


Using her recent work with the DNEG VFX team on Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 as an illustration, Jelena takes us on a journey through the diverse environments that make up the show's narrative. Tune in to learn how Jelena and the DNEG team approached diverse settings, from San Francisco Bay in the 32nd century to the vast Verubin Nebula.


This session will remind us of the importance of agility in visual effects work and the value of constant creative reinvention and reevaluation — even while working on the same show.

Jelena Stojanovic

Compositing Supervisor // DNEG

Jelena is one of DNEG’s compositing supervisors and has worked in the VFX industry for over 20 years. She joined DNEG 17 years ago, after finishing her postgraduate degree at St Martin’s College of Art and Design in London. Since then, Jelena has worked for DNEG in Singapore and Vancouver, where she has been based for over five years. 


Jelena earned a VES award nomination in the ‘Outstanding Compositing in a Motion Picture’ category for her work on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), one the first large-scale projects she took on as Compositing Supervisor. Other iconic Hollywood titles under her belt include Star Trek Beyond (2016), Godzilla (2014), Total Recall (2012), and the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise. 


In addition to recently wrapping her supervision work on season three of Star Trek: Discovery (2017-), Jelena also VFX supervised season one of Netflix’s Locke & Key (2020-).


Jelena’s career model - stay diverse- is reflected in her wide range of projects in both film and television, as well as her experience working with multiple DNEG sites.

Eric Robert Schultz

Eric Robert Schultz is a Lighting Lead at DNEG Vancouver. He previously worked at MPC Montreal after earning a degree in VFX from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2014. Eric’s work spans TV and film and includes top titles such as Blade Runner 2049, Hotzone, Runaways S3, and Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

James Charles

James Charles is an FX TD at DNEG Vancouver. James joined DNEG in 2015 after studying visual effects at the Savannah College of Art and Design. A tech-enthusiast and self-taught coder, James enjoys both the artistic and problem-solving components of his work in visual effects. He has contributed to major DNEG projects including Blade Runner 2049, Wonder Woman, Ant-Man, and Venom.

Conrad Olson

Conrad Olson a senior compositor who has been working on feature films and high-end TV projects since 2008. He grew up in the UK and started my VFX career at Framestore in London, after finishing the Complete Compositing course at Escape Studios.


Conrad moved to Vancouver in 2011 and has worked at most of the studios. He is currently working Image Engine Design.
