SIGNIFICANT is an attempt to make a chronological retrospective in only one hour of the films that in one way or the other played a significant role in the coming of age of The Animation Workshop. Showing the development of both technique and skill over a 30-year period, the program also reflects the corresponding development in Scandinavian animation over the same time span.

The programme contains some of the first films from today's established animation directors, such as Thorbjørn Christoffersen, Martin Skov, Kresten Vestbjerg Andersen, Tobias Gundorff, Rikke Planeta, as well as unscreened and raw gems from the years where it all started.

NB! Gamlebyen Kino is an outdoor cinema, so bring a warm sweater. In case of rain, the screening will be moved inside.

Age limit: 9
A city-boy takes a day off on the beach. Too lazy to throw his trash in the bin, he tosses it on the beach. The wind carries the wrapper to the surface of the ocean and soon, Poseidon emerges from under it. With the wrapper on Poseidon’s face, he leans in, and flicks the wrapper in the face of the city-boy. Poseidon slowly returns to the ocean, making a “I have my eyes on you” gesture with his hand. The city-boy is left baffled, realising his mistake. The movie ends with him daintily throwing out his trash in the bin.
