SIGNIFICANT is an attempt to make a chronological retrospective in only one hour of the films that in one way or the other played a significant role in the coming of age of The Animation Workshop. Showing the development of both technique and skill over a 30-year period, the program also reflects the corresponding development in Scandinavian animation over the same time span.

The programme contains some of the first films from today's established animation directors, such as Thorbjørn Christoffersen, Martin Skov, Kresten Vestbjerg Andersen, Tobias Gundorff, Rikke Planeta, as well as unscreened and raw gems from the years where it all started.

NB! Gamlebyen Kino is an outdoor cinema, so bring a warm sweater. In case of rain, the screening will be moved inside.

Black Tape explores the theme of domination. In an entangled tango, the victim and victimiser dance, occupying the frame and the space between brushstrokes.

Michelle and Uri Kranot are independent animation filmmakers. Both teach animation at The Animation Workshop, and they have produced numerous award-winning short films.
