SIGNIFICANT is an attempt to make a chronological retrospective in only one hour of the films that in one way or the other played a significant role in the coming of age of The Animation Workshop. Showing the development of both technique and skill over a 30-year period, the program also reflects the corresponding development in Scandinavian animation over the same time span.

The programme contains some of the first films from today's established animation directors, such as Thorbjørn Christoffersen, Martin Skov, Kresten Vestbjerg Andersen, Tobias Gundorff, Rikke Planeta, as well as unscreened and raw gems from the years where it all started.

NB! Gamlebyen Kino is an outdoor cinema, so bring a warm sweater. In case of rain, the screening will be moved inside.

As a pirate enters the Kingdom of the Dead, he meets the beautiful Queen. He instantly falls in love, but love it not always easy. Get ready for pirates, sword fighting, a beautiful woman, a grumpy octopus, amazing music and above all, a story about love!

The director Christoph said it could be done in maybe nine months. Seven years later Happy Flyfish premiered one of the most beautiful animated shorts the world had ever seen. No detail was spared. No angle unimagined. No movement unplanned. Nothing was left to coincidence in this ambitious project. And yet it became an organic ballet, celebrating the almost tactile emotional impact of stop motion.
